Botsa For Reddy, But Kiran Prefers Kapu!

In a strange case of role reversal, Pradesh Congress Committee president Botsa Satyanarayana, who hails from Kapu community, recommended the name of a Reddy for the post of Andhra Pradesh Marketing Federation (Markfed) chairman, but Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy, who represents powerful Reddy community, has picked up a Kapu leader for the post.
Kiran has decided to appoint a prominent Kapu leader Kanche Rama Rao as the Markfed chairman without even consulting the PCC chief, who had in fact, suggested the name of another senior Congress leader from East Godavari Satyanarayana Reddy. The Chief Minister’s decision came as an embarrassment to Botsa, but he could not say anything because Rama Rao hails from his own Kapu community.
Sources said Kiran had given preference to Rama Rao because the latter is his loyalist. Moreover, other senior leaders from Krishna and Guntur districts like Lagadapati Rajagopal, Kanna Lakshminarayana and K Parthasarathy also supported Rama Rao’s candidature. Even Chiranjeevi is learnt to have suggested his name for the post. So, Kiran had to overrule the PCC chief’s recommendation for Satyanarayana Reddy, despite the fact that the latter belongs to his own community.
