Y S Bharati, chairman of Sakshi media group and wife of YSR Congress
party president Y S Jaganmohan Reddy came under fire from the opposition
parties on Tuesday for allegedly trying to intimidate lawyers in the
Supreme Court hall.
There were reports that Bharati had shouted at the CBI lawyers in the court hall for targeting her husband without any evidence and keeping him in jail for more than 11 months causing a lot of mental trauma for her children.
“This is nothing but sheer factionalism. She tried to intimidate lawyers, who were only doing their duty as per the court directions. Being the chairman of a media house, does she not know that she is not supposed to speak to lawyers of the rival party, leave alone threatening them?” Telugu Mahila president Shobha Hymavathi asked.
She wondered why Bharati had to talk about her children’s plight now. “Does she not know that several persons had to go to jail in the Jagan’s illegal assets case? What about the fate of their children?” she asked and demanded that Bharati also should be interrogated by the CBI in the Jagan’s case.
Another TDP leader Kodela Sivaprasada Rao said the court should take suo motu cognizance of Bharati’s warnings to the CBI lawyers and order filing of cases against her. He sought to know whether Bharati would take an oath on the Holy Bible and say that her husband was not corrupt.
