Senior actor Akkineni Nagarjuna, who tries to keep away from all
sorts of controversies, is now facing trial before the Lok Ayukta, a
quasi judicial body, in connection with a land encroachment case.
Kathireddy Venkat Reddy, a representative of non-governmental organisation “Janam Kosam”, filed a petition in the Lok Ayukta, alleging that Nagajuna had encroached upon Tammari Cheruvu, a water body at Madhapur, to construct a hotel by name “N-Convention Centre.” The Lok Ayukta admitted the petition and issued notices to Ranga Reddy district collector and Greater Hyderabad Municipal Commissioner, directing them to submit a report before July 31.
This is not the first time that Nagarjuna is facing allegations of land encroachment in Madhapur. Recently, Telugu Desam Party legislator A Revanth Reddy alleged that Nagajuna had grabbed 14 acres land at Gurukul trust lands near Hitec city, including a pond. He alleged that the actor had got the land regularized with the help of former chief minister Y S Rajasekhar Reddy and demanded state government to hold an enquiry into this.
