Speculations were rife in the media circles on Monday afternoon that
Pradesh Congress Committee president Botsa Satyanarayana, too, has
decided to quit the Kiran Kumar Reddy cabinet to focus his attention
completely on revitalising the party in the state.
Botsa, who holds the transport portfolio in the Kiran Kumar Reddy cabinet, met Governor E S L Narasimhan at Raj Bhavan in the afternoon and discussed with him the latest political developments in the state, including the proposed resignation of the two tainted ministers – Sabita Indra Reddy and Dharmana Prasada Rao. He reportedly told the Governor that he, too, would step down from the cabinet and concentrate on the party affairs.
Apparently, the high command is learnt to have asked Botsa to choose between the PCC chief post or the cabinet post, as he cannot retain both. He is learnt to have preferred the PCC chief post, as it is more powerful than the cabinet berth. In any case, the Kiran government might not last long and so, it would be better for Botsa to retain the PCC chief post.
