The five Telangana
Congress MPs, who have been on a sit-in agitation on the premises of
Parliament for the last two days, ended their agitation on Wednesday,
but could not get any response from either the Centre or the Congress
high command.
According to reports from New Delhi, UPA chairperson and Congress president Sonia Gandhi had called up the striking MPs and expressed her sympathies towards them. She also talked to Lok Sabha speaker Meira Kumar and ensured that they get all the comforts during the agitation. She also deputed a couple of ministers to talk to the MPs and see that they did not face any problems.
Yet, there was no assurance from her on the Telangana issue. She did not even bother to send them a message that she was seriously considering the issue and would work out a solution at the earliest. The MPs have now withdrawn the agitation and are not sure what to do next. May be they will raise their voice in the House again only to be shouted down by the party president!
