The writing on the wall for the Congress party’s defeat appears to be
certain, if one were to go by the decision of AICC vice-president Rahul
Gandhi to tour the state in the coming days.
Rahul is learnt to have told PCC president Botsa Satyanarayana and Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy that he would soon be touring different parts of the state to rejuvenate the party cadres, as the party was badly bruised in the state. Apparently, his mother and Congress president Sonia Gandhi entrusted him with the task of repairing the party. He is learnt to have made a thorough study of the problems facing the Congress party in the state, including the Telangana issue and also the Jagan factor. He told them that he had certain plans to revive the glory of the party in the state.
However, Rahul Gandhi does not have any image in Andhra Pradesh and even the Congress party cadres have little knowledge about his political skills. The main reason for this is that Rahul Gandhi had never visited the state in the past, except on two or three occasions, and had any contact with the party cadres here.
Moreover, there is a talk that Rahul Gandhi is an iron leg and wherever he steps in, the party would lose. Going by this superstition, the Congress is set to lose Andhra Pradesh as well. Any doubt?
