If Kadapa MP Y S Jaganmohan Reddy is the whole and sole authority in
YSR Congress party as no decision is taken without his consent, it is
Nara Lokesh Naidu, son of former chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu, who
is emerging as a major power centre in the Telugu Desam Party.
According to party sources, Lokesh has virtually become an extra constitutional authority (ESC) in the party these days and any decision in the party is not possible without the knowledge of Lokesh. He is said to be playing a key role in identifying the right candidates for the party in the next elections and of course, he is being assisted by businessman-turned-Rajya Sabha member C M Ramesh. And whenever a party leader approaches Chandrababu Naidu with a proposal pertaining to the party affairs including nominations to various party positions in the district level, he is straightaway directing them to Lokesh.
And what is worse, Lokesh is not a modest person. He wants everybody to respect him in the party. Nobody, including seniors like Yanamala Ramakrishnudu and T Devender Goud, can dare call him by name. They all should invariably refer to him as “sir.” Thus, Lokesh has brought a sort of bureaucratic culture into the party. Well, if father loved to be called as CEO of Andhra Pradesh, the son wants to be a feudal lord!
