For any film, the trailer is the most important tool because it is
what conveys the flavor of the film to the audience and that sets a
precedence to them. But the way the trailers of films ‘Baadshah’ and
‘Shadow’ have come out, there seems to be a lot of discrepancy in the
genre the makers are conveying.
Apparently, the talk is that the teasers of ‘Shadow’ and ‘Baadshah’ are misleading. In the trailers, the focus is completely on comedy but posters are displaying that they are action movies. What does that mean? Action is not saleable when compared to comedy? Then why such heavy budgets for them?
Generally, looking at trailers the audience especially the family sections expect a film to be complete comedy entertainer but if it turns out to be an action extravaganza then it is a definite turnoff. So, the trailers should be a mix of both action and comedy so that it gives a balanced view instead of misleading the ticket buyers. Hope our cine folks realize that.
