HC to decide Dharmana fate on Monday

The fate of roads and buildings minister Dharmana Prasada Rao, who has been charge-sheeted by the Central Bureau of Investigation in connection with the alleged illegal assets case of YSR Congress party president Y S Jaganmohan Reddy, would be decided on April 29.
The High Court on Thursday completed hearing of the arguments of Dharmana and the CBI on the petition filed by him questioning inclusion of his name in the CBI charge sheet. The judgement has been reserved for Monday. A similar petition filed by Dharmana was earlier struck down by the special CBI court recently.
CBI counsel Ashok Bhan told the high court that Dharmana had resorted to gross misuse of power as revenue minister during the YSR regime in allotting thousands of acres of land to VANPIC project in violation of rules.
“We have all the evidences in this regard and there is no need for seeking the government permission to prosecute him, because the allotment was done during the previous regime of YSR between 2004 and 2009,” the CBI counsel said and alleged that by continuing in the cabinet, he was causing inordinate delay in completing the case.
Dharmana’s counsel argued that the GOs on allotment of lands to VANPIC were issued only with the approval of the cabinet and that he had not taken any decisions individually. The HC reserved its judgement after hearing both the sides.
