Rajya Sabha member and AICC official spokesperson Renuka Chowdary,
who had been silently opposing the Telangana state formation for quite
some, appears to have softened her stand after knowing the mind of party
president Sonia Gandhi.
She told the media in New Delhi that it was better for the Seemandhra leaders to abide by the decision of the high command.
“The Seemandhra leaders have every right to oppose the formation of Telangana, just as the Telangana leaders have every right to demand the same. But they should not try to blackmail the high command by threatening to resign from the party and the posts,” Renuka said.
The AICC spokesperson said the party leadership had consulted all the stakeholders and would take a decision that would appeal to all.
“Everybody has to abide by the high command’s decision,” she said.
Renuka who had represented Khammam parliamentary constituency in the Telangana region in the past claims herself to be a Telangana bidda. But she had quite openly opposed the bifurcation of state in the past and even ridiculed the Telangana Rashtra Samithi leaders. Now, she is compelled to follow the high command, as she has no other option.
