Till the other day, Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy had been claiming that he was not against Telangana and that as a Congress party loyalist, he did not have any individual opinion on the state bifurcation issue.
But when the issue reached a crucial stage and the Congress high command was about to take a decision, Kiran revealed his true colours and strongly resisted the formation of Telangana state.
The way the chief minister’s office has been leaking his roadmap report to the media in a phased manner highlighting various arguments against the Telangana formation clearly established that Kiran is dead against Telangana and he would go to any extent to prevent the state bifurcation.
Now, this has landed the Telangana Congress leaders in a tricky situation.
Having known that Kiran is strongly resisting the Telangana statehood, they are not in a position to move closely with him as any such attempt would project them as anti-Telangana.
Particularly, the Telangana ministers are facing a big trouble. If they continue to attend Kiran’s meetings and do their business as usual, they get the anti-Telangana brand.
“Despite knowing that the chief minister is against Telangana, how can these Telangana ministers and MLAs still run around him? They should resign from their posts and boycott the cabinet meetings,” a Telangana leader argued in a television channel debate.
