In the midst of conflicting statements being issued by the Congress leaders on the Telangana statehood issue, the Rajahmundry Congress MP Vundavelli Arun Kumar has further muddied the waters by making a set of curious and mutually contradictory remarks.
On one hand, the MP said there was "no problem" even if Andhra Pradesh was divided and, in the same breath, observed that the proposal for formation of separate Telangana state will have to be passed by the Assembly by majority vote.
Everyone knows that such a resolution can never be passed in the Assembly in view of the numbers favouring Seemandhra region.
Though known for his articulation skills, Vundavelli seems confused about his stand on Telangana or may be deliberately trying to confuse the people.
"The state will be divided if it becomes inevitable," he said in his latest statement on the contentious issue.
This observation will surely land him in trouble as the supporters of the United AP cause will not take it lying down.
He himself claims to be a strong votary of the cause of integration. In the same breath, he also said that separate Telangana state was possible only when the entire country is agreeable to it.
It looks as if Vundavelli is on a mission to deliberately confuse the people with his contradictory statements on Telangana.
