Suspended senior IAS officer Y Srilakshmi, who has been charged by
the CBI in connection with the Obulapuram mining scam, managed to get
interim bail again after the court was convinced of her serious
sickness.
Srilakshmi, who was back in the Chanchalguda jail after the expiry of her interim bail on March 20, was found to be terribly ill. Doctors who had treated on her reported to the court that she was suffering from numbness in her limbs due to lumbar spondylosis and that she cannot move her hand or hand without help. She was also found to be in serious mental trauma. The court was convinced of the report and granted her interim bail till she got cured of her ailments.
Srilakshmi who was arrested on December 2, 2011, was granted interim bail by the high court in October 2012 on health grounds. The bail expired on January 21, but she was granted further extension till March 20, as she pleaded with the court that she was suffering from spinal problem. She sought further extension of interim bail till the completion of investigation into the case, stating that she was taking treatment for regaining the lost sensation in her left lower limb in CMC Hospital at Vellore in Tamil Nadu and the recovery process was not complete yet.
